Tourism
At the moment the European Union only has an indirect
influence on tourism. If the Lisbon treaty is adopted
the European Union will be able to provide funds for
Tourism projects directly which would be a major boost
to Ireland.
I am supporting the Lisbon treaty being put to the
Irish people again and I am emphasising the thousands
of jobs that will be created by EU funding for the Tourism
sector.
The Ireland North West Constituency has enormous potential to become one of the worlds leading tourism destination, The Constituency encompasses, The Cliffs of Moher, Shannon Waterway, The Islands of the West coast, Galway City, Connermara, Yeats County, Leitrim and the Lakes of Cavan, not to mention Donegal and Mayo.
I am pushing for improved development of the tourism industry including lower VAT on associated services. I also wish to seek to improve access to the region and improve marketing.
